why is everything so grey?

a cannot say i am too crazy about the dirty greyness all over. and what about this angle? hm, maybe the angle is not too bad. i don't know. i'm hating the dirty middle part more right now i guess. but it's a progress image, isn't it?

still didn't refine the model as i promised. too dark for a lamp.

here, have a little incubus.

getting there

so, it seems that my model is forming albeit slowly. i will have to do some refinement refinement refinement. some proportions that i don't like need to change. i will also have to take different renders to show what is (hopefully) so special about this gal. rum ta dum! i am enjoying modeling it. hope to enjoy rendering it for a decent look and hope you enjoy seeing its progression as well!

i become horrified as i notice that it has been around 9 months since my announcement of a new look and feel and everything for my website! man, am i slow... i totally need a makeover. i hope to be able to put all the new stuff online -both designs and animations- asap. that means asap, self!

pending

does this look familiar? maybe you remember some old friend of ours from wayy back! that's right, the wire toy. wasn't he cute? and maybe you remember the lamp project i was working on, too? that's right. the two of them are back! they want to become -how to say- more real, more concrete, more... good looking:) hopefully!

hm, i think i'm coming slowly back, as well:D

it is 11:55 pm and i am literally melting. that is how hot and humid it is. in the middle of the night!!! scary.

edit: i revised the model a bit and changed the image- there were some problems with it. sorry!

horizontes nuevos

solidworks. i knew we would be good friends:) the guy -and he is definitely a guy!- is so intuitive and easy to use. clean, neat and precise. where have you been all these years? a modeler's dream. thank you thomas parel for the nice tutorial!

practise practise practise!

do you have some nice program 'findings' that have been so obvious already?

can't help it

well, i'm not really crazy about advertising blockbusters; i don't think they need my advertisement. but i must say: avatar! i want to be a na'vi, too:) words can't describe the experience. you have to see for yourself. the characters. models. the scenes. the textures. the lighting. the movements. i even dream at night about our blue friends. soooo beautiful!

jealousy.

a better solution?

i think this is more like it... we don't want to use too long stripes of material... or do we? i don't know. anyway, i'll prototype it. ¡viva el diseño!

sorry about the 'sketchy' look so far. i hope to start modelling this lady right away... then i can get you more fun imagery. ¡viva la visualizaciòn!

hmm! i like the cold weather and the lack of sun soo much:)

i'm about to fly

there are only 2 days left until my workshop. agggg! meanwhile, let me entertain you with this guy, who only serves for my teaching purposes. he helps me explain the importance of... materials:) boy, i really miss industrial design. i'm all designed up after the workshop:) some real stuff wouldn't hurt. are you coming?

plasticinized

i'm in preparation of some other weird stuff, too. sometimes i feel that i'm afraid to... finish things. do you get that feeling, too? i have a deadline approaching. i've already announced that i will do this demo. i've prepared lots of models. and it's not all that much time consuming (although it is a little bit). but suddenly i feel that i'll never be able to make it. suddenly i find tons of other stuff to do. like folding the clothes. or cleaning my desktop. or sleeping. this happens to me all the time. why oh why? i've always managed to keep to my deadlines, but this stupid feeling always has to nag my head in the process. i'll never get wise i guess.

enough

i'm really fed up with all the 2d stuff i've been doing! i want to do 3d stuff. like real models, objects, revolving in the 3d space. don't get me wrong, i love doing 2d drawings. the last job i did for a website was really a blast (i promise to give links when it's out). but i miss modelling, texturing, rendering and for the most important part, designing things that will be real objects.

hehe this is the stuff that has been keeping me busy lately. i feel the same with the girl.

do you get fed up with whatever you are doing sometimes? do you feel like 'oh but i should be doing this (whatever you like most) instead!' am i the only one? am i?

shopping

finally i managed to buy the items on my shopping list, and i'm ready to start some model-making:)) sometimes i really get sick of spending time on the computer. so this is going to be a good change for a while. for a short while, of course...hm, real objects! can i handle this?:D

i hope to be able to take a photo, soon. until then, don't forget to get some nice sunshine in!

maybe this is a better idea

hm, the capacity of plasticine to serve as my model material seems to come to its limit:) now i will indeed need more hi-tech equipment. just kidding. i will move on to computer imagery for a while. after that things will need to get even dirtier, model-wise... can you guess what this is now?

have some sunday fun with ting tings!

dirt

hehe just another 'what is this?' post. i don't remember who did it, but there was a list like '25 mistakes designers make' and two items were 'spending too much time on the computer' and 'not making models to avoid getting dirty'. i'm sure the exact words were different, but the main essence was like that. i couldn't agree more. being obsessed with computers instead of spending valuable time exploring the 'real' world... i wish more employers understood that when you are not at your desk, you might be more useful for the company:)) the same goes with models. is it really possible to develop a product without making a model? i guess you can use just about any kind of material as long as it fills your need. there's no need for expensive hi-tech equipment to visualize ideas. well, at least always.
so, what is this?
